2008/01/10 Club Meeting Minutes

Total 13 members attended the meeting: Jennifer, Jie, Joe, Ken, Kerry, Lisa, Louise, Mike C, Mike G, Sam, Sarita, Shyam, Stephanie. 1 guest -- Madan attended our meeting. The agenda for the meeting is as follows.

Sergeant At Arms	Lisa -- called meeting to order at 7:30pm.
Spark Master	Lisa -- read us Susan B. Anthony's speech on women's right to vote.
President	Joe -- welcomed everyone to the meeting.
Toastmaster	Stephanie -- introduced functionaries for the meeting: Kerry: Master Evaluator Joe: Grammarian. The word of the day: atavism Louise: Ah Counter Sarita: Timer
Table Topics Mike C, as the Table Topic Master, asked us to talk about our new year resolutions. 9 members + 1 guest participated in the table topics: Jie, Joe, Ken, Kerry, Louise, Mike G, Sarita, Shyam, Stephanie, and Madan (Guest). Madan won the Best Table Topic Speaker award.
Business meeting	Joe proposed a design contest for our new club sign. All club members are welcome to participate, and we will vote for the design in the next meeting.

Speaker 2	Jennifer: "The New Kid in Town", Project #3 (Sell a Product) from the Specialty Speeches Manual.
Speaker 3	Sam: "A Funny Fairtale", Speech #1 (Speak to Inform) from the Speaking to Inform Manual.
Michael G won the Best Speaker award.
