2009/03/12 Club Meeting Minutes

Total 14 members attended the meeting: Joy, Louise, Mike, Shyam, Wei, Joe, Kerry, Nina, Sam, Jennifer, Sarah, Jane, Stephanie, Naoki, Yuko. Total 2 guests, Andy and Russel attended the meeting. The agenda for the meeting is as follows.

Toastmaster	Shyam -- introduced functionaries for the meeting: Sarah: Master Evaluator Jennifer: Grammarian/Ah Counter Naoki: Timer
Table Topics
Joe, as the Table Topic Master, organized a debate. The first speaker chooses a topic and decides whether to argue for its pro or for its con, the second speaker will argue from the opposite position. Sam vs Kerry on whether government should provide health care for everyone. Stephanie vs Russel on Whether Internet is a good thing or a bad thing. Wei vs Jane on Whether government should regulate environment. Yuko vs Shyam on Whether government should bail out banks or not. Russel won the Best Table Topic Speaker award.

Louise, as the Table Topic Master, asked each speaker to explain his/her duties if club officier and to presuade club members to assume his/her position in the next officier election. At the end, the speaker will pick the next speaker. The next speaker if not club officier will need to explain why he/she does/doesn't fit the position. Lisa won the Best Table Topic Speaker award.
